There is a place where HUMAN IN LOVE has provided free meals and hair cut service to the elderly every month for the last five years. It is ‘Cherry Garden’ Weeklong Protection Center for the Handicapped, which is the Busan branch of HUMAN IN LOVE.

Cherry Garden has invited around 300 elderly men and women to “Parent’s Day Party & Sharing Hope and Love Concert” in every May when Parent’s Day is celebrated.

On May 27, the event was held and the concert was crowded with around 350 guests, volunteers and performers at Juhak Elementary School located across the Busan branch. The members and staff of the Busan Branch put handmade carnations on the chest of the elderly while volunteers were serving rice, soup, rice cake, steamed pork and kimchi.

Performances began and the folk singers in beautiful hanbok boosted the event with “Paldo Folk Song”. Afterwards, “Jooryedidim Dance Team” performed a fan dance “Taegeukmu”. When accordion ensemble played “Wild Rose” and “The Pure Love of Reed”, the elderly audience sang together as if they had promised.

Finally, the members of the Busan branch and social workers performed Nanta and played jembe and songs and the audience was enjoying the music, clapping their hands.
Yang Seong-su, the head of the Busan Branch “Cherry Garden”, started providing free meals to the elderly living near the branch from 2013. After realizing there were so many elderly people living in poverty or living alone, he decided to cook in the kitchen of his branch and provide a meal to them once every month.

At first, he spent his money to provide free meal or got help from his acquaintances. Since, 2016, the headquarters of HUMAN IN LOVE joined hands with him.
Please keep supporting Cherry Garden. Thanks a lot!
