After achieving independence from Britain in 1962, Uganda had been suffering severe political and social insecurity due to power struggle, coup and dictatorship. However, the country has secured some level of stability since 1986 thanks to strong governing of Yoweri Museveni and people’s support.
However, the country is still suffering conflicts due to a growing tension over his 32-year-long ruling. Furthermore, Uganda has been still considered one of the world’s 50 poorest countries since 1971.

Director Cho has been visiting SEMEI KAKUNGULU HIGH SCHOOL every year to deliver scholarship and encourage each and every one of the scholarship students who are very passionate about learning and showing great performance at school even under harsh conditions.
We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to HIL members for supporting the dreams and efforts of Ugandan scholarship students who study very hard with a belief that learning is their only hope.
