By 2021년 10월 14일August 16th, 2024No Comments

In Rwanda, Africa, HUMAN IN LOVE started an education project in 2013 and a teenager scholarship project in 2014. Two HIL scholarship students graduated from university for the first time this year. We really appreciate HIL family members for giving warm support and unwavering attention to our education projects and we’re glad to show you our interview with the two students.

[Scholarship student: Ernest Kwizera]
Please introduce yourself to HIL supporters.
Hi, I’m Ernest Kwizera, a HIL scholarship student. I’m 25 years old this year and living with my parents and younger siblings. I was appointed as a HIL scholarship student in 2014 when I was a high school student and went to Rwanda’s national education university in 2017 and got support from HIL until I graduate this year.

How does it feel to graduate from university?
I’m very happy and proud to my parents and supporters because I could come all the way here thanks to your support and help. Especially, I really appreciate HIL supporters.

What does it mean to be a HIL scholarship student?
It’s like having very supportive parents. When I was a high school student, I couldn’t keep going to school. I had six younger siblings and my family couldn’t afford my tuition. But like a miracle, I was appointed as a HIL scholarship student, and HIL supported not only tuition fees but everything else needed for going to school like school uniforms, books, stationary, food, and also taught me English and computer. Thanks to HIL’s support, I could keep studying and got really good scores at the college entrance exam. Without HIL supporters, I couldn’t even imagine myself going to college. I sincerely give my thanks to each and every HIL supporter who has helped me out.

For the last seven years with HIL, I have so many good memoires. It was really interesting to talk with an Asian HIL branch manager and I really liked learning English and computer.
One of the most memorable events with HIL is a school uniform donation project. For kids here, school uniforms mean a lot. Some kids cannot go to school just because they don’t have a uniform to wear, or even if they have, they wore it so many times that their uniforms are sometimes not new and tidy. So, when I was giving school uniforms to kids, I was enormously proud and I thought I wanted to become a person who can give hope to young children. While I was watching HIL’s nutrition and education project for young kids, I decided to go to an education university and major early childhood education.

What is your future goal and plan?
I want to teach kids really well based on what I learned at university and HIL’s scholarship program. I also want to keep studying education so that I can contribute to enhancing Rwanda’s education system and promoting the quality of education. And someday, I want to build an organization like HIL which can help those in need of help. Please keep supporting me to achieve my dreams.
I’d like to thank all those who have supported me and I wish you all the success in everything you do. Thanks.

[Scholarship student: Immanuel Mbarushimana]
Please introduce yourself to HIL supporters.
Hi, I’m Immanuel Mbarushimana. I’m 27 years old and got appointed as a HIL scholarship student in 2014, and entered Rwanda’s national public health university with the major of medical, public health and science in 2016 and graduated this year.
I have a mother, brother and, older sisters and three adopted younger siblings. My dad passed away during Rwanda genocide in 1994, the same year I was born. I’m a huge fan of swimming, running, and lifting weights. I also like to read books.

How does it feel to graduate from university?
It’s such a huge honor to me. It’s like a dream. Now I’m waiting for my final grade and certificate. It was not easy to get there and I wish I can see a good result.

What does it mean to be a HIL scholarship student?
HIL scholarship program helps people get out of poverty. It helps me to continue to grow through education and financial support.

What is the most memorable event for you as a HIL scholarship student?
The most memorable moment was when I was appointed as a scholarship student. The day was one of my favorite days in my life. In 2014, I was surrounded by despair and worries about my future. My family couldn’t even afford food and I was kicked out of school every three month because I couldn’t pay for tuition. I was really frustrated at that time because I couldn’t keep going to school anymore and I got a news that I was appointed as a scholarship student! It was a very precious moment in my life. I’m not the only one. All the Rwanda’s HIL scholarship students feel the same. After becoming a HIL scholarship student, I’ve been always living with the sense of gratitude.

What is your future goal and plan?
I’d like to build my career path as a doctor with expertise in public health and nutrition, and become an expert in this area. My dream is to become one of the HIL’s supporters and an entrepreneur.
