On August 20, 2022, HUMAN IN LOVE(HIL) organized and implemented a national plogging campaign at Chunjangdae Beach in Seocheon, Chungchengnam-do province with a total of 62 volunteers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in the Republic of Korea (MOF) and the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM).
Collected 238.7 kg of marine debris in one hour of the activity!
Even though Chunjangdae beach is a place where the official beach cleaners assigned by the local government have been cleaning frequently, marine waste was quickly piled up and placed everywhere on the beach. It says that a lot of waste is entering the ocean and our society is making a lot of garbage. We classified and recorded what kind of marine debris we collected.

We wish the 7th International Marine Debris Conference(7IMDC) to be a successful international event.
The national plogging campaign is a national event hosted by the MOF, the KOEM, and non-governmental organizations (HIL, Wiperth, DIPHDA, Small Action, and Tongyeong Geoje Korea Federation for Environmental Movements) for June to September 2022 to support the successful hosting of the 7IMDC held at BEXCO in Busan, the Republic of Korea, organized by the MOF, the KOEM, and the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP).
HUMAN IN LOVE(HIL) organizes a booth exhibition at the 7IMDC.
The 7IMDC in 2022 will be held in South Korea. It’s the first time this conference is held outside of the United States! HIL will participate in the 7IMDC to introduce HIL’s environmental activities and to encourage the participation of enterprises, institutes, and individuals in marine environment protection together.
We hope you will pay attention to the 7IMDC to actualize groundbreaking changes in marine waste issues not only in South Korea but also everywhere around the world. HIL will work harder to bear more meaningful results in the environmental field. Thanks.
