HIL S.A.R

HUMAN IN LOVE Search and Rescue Team(HIL S.A.R) is the first and unique civil rescue team in the Republic of Korea, in compliance with the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group(INSARAG) guideline.

Search and Rescue Operation in Turkiye Earthquake
(February 2023)

On February 6, 2023, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck southeastern Turkiye, causing the worst disaster of the 21st century, with approximately 59,000 people killed, 120,000 injured, and damage exceeding 100 trillion won.
HUMAN IN LOVE dispatched 12 members of the HIL S.A.R to Hatay in Turkiye, one of the most damaged regions. The HIL S.A.R has done the search and rescue work for 11 days in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), Turkey Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), and the international search and rescue teams worldwide.

Visit of the President of Turkiye to Scene of the SAR Work

On the 8th day of the search and rescue operation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkiye, visited Hatay City and expressed his gratitude to the HIL SAR and the international search and rescue teams from various countries on behalf of Turkiye, for their dedicated search and rescue activities.

Search and Rescue Operation in Nepal Earthquake(April 2015)

On 25 April 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Kathmandu, Nepal. Many of the landmark buildings and homes were badly damaged. Also, more than 8,000 people were killed and 16,000 people were injured.
HUMAN IN LOVE(HIL) dispatched 10 members of the Search and Rescue(S.A.R) to Kathmandu immediately. With UN OCHA and the international S.A.R teams worldwide, the HIL S.A.R has carried out search and rescue operations and collected dead bodies under the debris from the collapsed buildings for seven days.

A Letter of Appreciation from the Government of Nepal (May 2015)

The Government of Nepal (The Ministry of Internal Affairs and National Disaster Management) sent a letter to HUMAN IN LOVE, expressing its gratitude to the HIL S.A.R for their dedicated search and rescue operation.

Installation of Guidelines for Underwater Search and Dive Rescue and Pumping Oxygen into the Sunken Sewol Ferry (April 2014)

On April 16, 2014, the Sewol ferry, with a total of 476 people on board, including 325 students and 14 teachers from Danwon High School, sank in the waters of Byeongpung Island near Jodo-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, resulting in the death or disappearance of 304 precious lives.
The HIL S.A.R was dispatched to the site and installed guidelines(ropes) to enter the interior of the sunken ferry.
The rescue divers could enter inside the sunken ferry, following the installed guidelines(ropes) installed by the HIL S.A.R.

Search and Rescue Operation in Haiti Earthquake(January 2010)

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. More than 500 thousand people died and 180 thousand people were displaced.
HUMAN IN LOVE (formerly known as WDRO(World Disaster Relief Organization)) dispatched the search and rescue corps to the earthquake-affected region and did the search and rescue operation for two weeks.

Search and Rescue Operation in Indonesia Earthquake(September 2009)

On September 30, 2009, a strong earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck Sumatra, Indonesia, resulting in 739 deaths, 296 missing, and approximately 500,000 victims. (Announced by the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency on October 8, 2009)
HUMAN IN LOVE (formerly known as WDRO(World Disaster Relief Organization)) dispatched the search and rescue corps to Padang City, Sumatra Province, which was severely damaged, and conducted the search and rescue operation for five days from October 3.
