Isabella Giorgini is an illustrator based in Italy. She has a deep interest in the cycles of life and climate change, and actively creates and educates children through nonfiction picture books that convey scientific information. She encourages children to keep raising their voices for the environment and to express themselves through art.

All your works showed great creativity and smart ways of showing the theme. and so judging was truly challenging. I was deeply impressed by how highly aware our children are of serious issues like marine pollution.”

Judges’ Review

It has been a great honor for me to be part of the jury for the 5th contest of My Beloved Ocean and to admire the drawings created by so many young artists.

In their works, one can feel a deep love for the ocean and for all the forms of life that inhabit it, as well as a clear awareness of the problems that threaten it, and a surprising imagination in envisioning solutions and possible futures.

Although we call our planet “Earth,” it is actually mostly covered by the waters of the oceans.

The oceans are fundamental to the balance of our planet: they are part of the water cycle, absorb heat and carbon dioxide to regulate the climate, and are home to an incredible variety of fish, mollusks, crustaceans, corals, algae, and plants.

The oceans are fundamental to the balance of our planet: they are part of the water cycle, absorb heat and carbon dioxide to regulate the climate, and are home to an incredible variety of fish, mollusks, crustaceans, corals, algae, and plants.

For all these reasons, and many more, it is essential that we protect them.

It makes me truly happy to see such deep interest and sensitivity toward this theme shining through in the artworks.

A Message to Our Young Artists from Isabella

Thank you to all the participants, and congratulations to the winners.

Every drawing I had the pleasure of seeing left something with me. I was genuinely moved by your creativity and care.

I encourage you to keep standing up for the environment and to continue expressing yourselves through art. Your drawings are an invitation to look at the sea with respect and responsibility, and to imagine a better future. As the saying goes, even if our action may seem just a drop in the ocean, let us remember that the ocean is made of drops.
