Rwanda’s G.S NYAMA Reopened Science Lab and Library

Hello, I’m Etienne, HUMAN IN LOVE’s Rwandan Branch manager.
After renovating G.S NYAMA from March to May, the school finally reopened the science lab and library, which had been closed for a long time.

Low quality of education due to lack of facilities
올Established 73 years ago, G.S. Nyamata is now the oldest school in the region, serving a total of 1,943 students from kindergarten through elementary and junior high school. Due to lack of budget, the school had a severe shortage of facilities relative to its student population. Moreover, many existing facilities were old and so badly damaged that several were unusable. This is why HIL chose G.S NYAMA as the target of “Rwanda educational environment improvement campaign” and started to construct a science lab and library which needed to be repaired immediately.

Walls repaired, roof replaced and painting completed!
We demolished wooden frames and steel panels, repaired walls, and installed a new, sturdy roof. In addition, we increased the roof height to improve ventilation and cool down classrooms during the summer. Painting is also done!

“Welcome, my friends!” Science lab and library are open!
Science department students were back in class in the science lab. The teacher gave a lecture, using a beam projector on a newly painted wall. Younger students came over to the new library to look around, showing interest in new books.

Roof construction has been our long-awaited wish. Previously, our valuable books and lab equipment would get wet and ruined and we couldn’t use the lab any more every time we had floods. I’m so delighted that our students can use the lab and library without concerns. All the HIL sponsors, thank you very much for your support.” – Principal, MUKARINDIRO Marie Gorethe–

I’m really excited the library is finally newly renovated. It will be a great help for studying.” – Student, MUTABAZI Alain –

Since 2012, HIL Rwandan Branch has been actively engaged in various programs including construction and repair of educational facilities, scholarship, computer and English class, book donations, teacher training program, housing improvement and healthcare project in impoverished areas of Rwanda. We’d like to express our gratitude to HIL family members for supporting the renovation of school buildings for this project.
