Interview (1) HUMAN IN LOVE Adult Literacy Education Single mom with six kids challenges to learn writing

Hi, I’m Mukamunana Tripine. I’m a single mother with six kids. I’m growing beans, cassava and sorghum to feed my family. I work in the fields before going to class and prepare meals for my kids after the class.

I tend to be very careful when making a decision, but I wasn’t hesitant at all to take HUMAN IN LOVE Adult Literacy class. I get along with my neighbors and I’m very social, so I was often told to be a leader of my town. But I couldn’t take that chance because I was not able to read and write. I was often frustrated that I couldn’t know how things go around in my neighborhood and country because I was illiterate.

On the first day of my class, I received books and I was so happy. My teacher, Agliana, has good voice and she teaches very well. It wasn’t easy to catch up in the beginning, but now all iswell. I always review what I learned that day at my house.
If I can read and write freely, I’ll be very proud of myself. I’ll better know how the world goes around and, most of all, I’ll be able to teach my children even better. Once I graduate, I want to challenge myself to be a town leader and run a grocery store. Also I want to teach those who can’t read and write at HUMAN IN LOVE Adult Literacy class someday. I have so many dreams, right?
My children and neighbors were happy that I study and they supported me a lot. I told my neighbors to take Adult Literacy class next year.
