Recovering 9 Bodies of Missing People from the Earthquake while Searching for Survivors

HUMAN IN LOVE Emergency Rescue Team continues to search for missing people in cooperation with the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (Afet ve Acil Durum Yönetimi Başkanlığı, AFAD) in Turkiye. As of 19th, we have recovered 9 bodies of missing people from the earthquake and handed them over to their families, while searching for survivors at places where we heard there are likely to be survivors
Families unable to leave the rescue sites
Ms. Demirel, who narrowly survived, said she had four younger sisters, two nephews, and a brother-in-law still in the rubble of her crushed apartment. Although she was in complete shock and sorrow with her unfocused eyes, she said she wanted to do whatever she could to help the rescue team find her families. With survival rates dropping day by day, rescue teams were pulling out one by one, and those whose families are still buried under massive concrete and debris are unable to leave rescue sites with despair and sadness.
A 17-year-old girl was rescued after 248 hours, and we don’t give up hope
Even ten days after the earthquake, we’re still hearing about the news about rescues from all around the country. Yesterday, a 13-year-old boy, Mustafa, was rescued after 229 hours in Hatay Province, where we are rescuing people. Every time there is news about someone being rescued, it brings a huge hope and comfort to families who were in despair.
