Rundo Primary School in Burundi had a lot of students, but there was no building at all. Children at Murama Primary School in Rwanda could never enter the classrooms on sweltering days due to the heat from the hot tin roof.

Fewer than 10% of low-income countries reported having enough soap, clean water, sanitation facilities, and masks to ensure the safety of all students and staff, compared with 96% of high-income countries. Investment and monitoring of the basic facilities that schools must have are needed.
