HUMAN IN LOVE and Korea Open Source Software Association (KOSSA) jointly held a seminar on Monday, June 9th, 2014 at Microsoft Korea Gwanghwamun Office to introduce ‘Fostering program for SW coding instructors’ for children and adolescents.

About 140 participants including college students and youth workers who are interested in software coding joined the seminar. The seminar began with the congratulatory remarks by Chairman of HUMAN IN LOVE, Young-Hoo KIM and Vice-Chairman of Korea Open Source Software Association (KOSSA), Ho-Sung SHIM. It was held for about 4 hours and included various lectures such as ‘IT Trends and 2014 Key Issues’ by Manager of Microsoft Korea, ‘The Environment for Coding Education’ by Manager Jin-Hee BAE, Programming Class given by Instructor E-Going known for Coding Everybody and Researcher Sang-Soo SONG, ‘Introduction to Fostering Program for SW Coding Instructors’ by Head Manager of KOSSA, Hak-Jun KIM.

As IT companies such as Google, Apple, MS, Amazon and Facebook are making software the most important factor for success, the software education for children and adolescents is becoming increasingly important. In fact, developed nations including the U.S., the U.K., Israel and Finland have proactively started software education curriculum.

In Korea, Ministry of Education and some companies are providing software education. However, these efforts are still at the beginning stage and they require more professional instructors, sound educational program and distribution plans.

This is why HUMAN IN LOVE and KOSSA jointly held ‘Fostering program for SW instructors’ and nurtured competent instructors. Those who completed the program will donate their talents and teach children and adolescents about SW coding at regional childcare center, volunteer center in foreign countries and more. 20 seminar participants will be selected for the fostering program. The program will last for 7 days from June 30th, 2014.
